Nick's watercolour skills developed strongly in the years prior to his Exhition of 23 Watercolour paintings in November 1999. His lecturer one year at the Albany Summer Schools was a Japanese Artist who helped Nick to become bolder in his approach to his art. The result was a freer and less meticulous approach resulting in larger paintings produced with more relaxed techniques.
He only had a few months of life left after that Exhibition so there are few works painted after that group of paintings.
High resolution images are available for some of the paintings from that exhition. (Any painting with DK - Damian Kelly, or PW - Peter Windram in the description can have a high resolution print produced in any size required up to full size).
Unfortunately, there are no images available to me for some of his works and very poor thumbnail images for others.
November 1999 -
"Treasured Memories", an exhibtion for which Nick produced 23 paintings. There were offers made on 22 of the paintings, so only one did not initially sell. Two paintings were retained for some months for an overseas buiyer who eventually did not pay.
In the years leading up to the Exhibition Nick developed a keen interest in studying and practicing the art of painting rusting corrugated iron using watercolours. He also displayed the A De Mello quotation (image at the left) prominently at the "Treasured Memories" Exhibition.
Nick gave his art away to friends and family soon after it was completed. Hence, apart from the Exhibiition paintings, some left with me for storage by his niece, Jules Bilic, some remnants and a few paintings, there are no more to display on this site.
